What is the Shamiri Summit?

The Shamiri Summit is an annual gathering hosted by the Shamiri Institute that brings together researchers, policymakers, technologists, educators, funders, and community leaders to explore bold ideas and scalable solutions at the intersection of mental health, systems change, and African innovation.
Through curated tracks, dynamic storytelling, and radical collaboration, the Summit challenges conventional thinking and opens new pathways for care, equity, and transformation.

What is the dresscode?

The dress code is business casual. We suggest wearing comfortable yet professional attire to ensure you can participate fully in all activities while looking polished.

What can I expect on the day?

Six tracks. Four stages. One mission: Rethinking the systems that shape how we live and care. The two-day experience is curated to spark ideas, connections, and collective action through panels, workshops, presentations, tech demos, networking lounges, and more.

What are tracks?

Tracks are breakout sessions tailored to engage specific audiences in meaningful dialogue and collaboration. Upon registration, you’ll have the opportunity to choose your top two tracks and we’ll assign you accordingly.

This year the breakout tracks are Policy, Science, Doers, Education (new!), and Technology (new!)

Are there accommodations nearby?

Yes, there are several hotels and accommodations around Nairobi. We have a special rate with Glee Hotel for conference guests and recommend booking early to secure a room. Reach out to us on summit@shamiri.institute for more information.

What if I can only make it for one day?

That’s okay! We will have some carry-over sessions from Day 1 to Day 2 however you will be able to follow along if you only come for one or the other.

Calling all Kenyan student researchers!
We invite Kenyan university students, particularly those studying psychology, to submit their original research abstracts to present at the Shamiri Summit.
We are looking for research on youth and mental health, wellbeing and resilience, and the intersection of technology and mental health.
This is an excellent opportunity for students to gain recognition for their research, connect with leading professionals, and win cash prizes!
