Dorah Kitala

Deputy Director Partnerships, MoE

At the Ministry of Education, Dorah is involved in Policy formulation and review, promotion of Partnerships and Bilateral Relations; and mainstreaming of pertinent and contemporary issues into the curriculum. Currently, she is in charge of Partnerships, linkages and promotion of bilateral relations. Dorah also coordinates Peace Education in the Directorate of Policy, Partnerships and East African Community Affairs and is also the Regional Coordinator for Peace Education (ICQN-PE) and the focal point for the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA) in the Ministry.  She has both worked and been trained by national (National Cohesion and Integration Commission, National Counter Terrorism Center and KNATCOM) and International bodies like Arigatou International, UNESCO IICBA and ADEA IN Peace Education. Dorah has been greatly involved in capacity building of teachers, members of the Boards of Management, parents and community leaders on Peace Education programs/initiatives. She has participated in several studies conducted by both ADEA and AU Peace Education Cluster and in various regional and international conferences on Peace, Global Citizenship and Ethics Education. She has great experience in teaching Literature in High Schools where she also headed the Language Department. Dorah holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology and a Degree in Literature and English from Kenyatta University-Nairobi.
