Alice Nyakiongora serves as a Deputy Director in the State Department for Basic Education within the Directorate of Policy Partnerships and East African Community Affairs. A seasoned educator, Alice taught for 15 years before transitioning to the Ministry of Education, where she now holds the role of Deputy Coordinator of Partnerships. In this capacity, she collaborates closely with education partners and stakeholders to advance the Directorate’s objectives. As the focal point for East African Community Affairs, Alice coordinates educational activities and bilateral engagements across East African member states and the broader African region. She is passionate about supporting young adults in schools and colleges, with a particular focus on mental health, recognizing its growing significance in education today.
